[Update #2]: Apex Legends' Season 12 preview shows off the new Control game mode and Olympus map changes.

[Update]: Apex Legends' Season 12 - Defiance is launching on February 8, 2022 with the new Legend Mad Maggie.

In order to help pass the time before the big Season 12 update in early February, Respawn has now unleashed the rather humble Dark Depths event for Apex Legends. Dark Depths brings with it a lush new Arena map by the name of Habitat, as well as a whole bunch of new cosmetic items to collect.

Since Habitat is basically the only new bit of content in this update, allow me to first share with you the brief teaser trailer. It should give you a pretty good look at the new map. Have a gander:

When it comes to the cosmetics, you can get a solid amount of freebies through the three weekly prize tracks, though most of the really good stuff is going to cost you a pretty penny in the in-game store. Speaking of prizes, the currently active first prize track offers you a chance to grab Apex Packs, an Epic Holospray and a Loading screen.

The second week will throw in even more Apex Packs, a Valkyrie themed Holospray, as well as a Dark Depths Pack that contains one of the fancier new cosmetics. As for week three, that one will bring with it an Epic Revenant Holospray, an Epic Alternator Skin, as well as an Epic Revenant skin.
