[Update #2]: New World devs have announced their plans for major updates throughout 2022.

[Update]: New World has been delayed yet again, this time until September 28, 2021.

After being delayed time and time again, it seems that Amazon's New World MMO has now finally sorted out all of its major issues and is getting ready for its full release on August 31, 2021. So in order to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, New World has now launched a closed beta test that will last until August 2nd.

If you would like to give it a chance for yourself, there are two ways to get into the beta. The first and most obvious one involves pre-ordering New World on either Amazon or Steam for guaranteed access, while the second one involves signing up for the beta and hoping you get lucky. That said, the random beta invites will be flying out all throughout the event, so even if you're reading this fairly late into the beta test there's still a chance you can get in.

As for what exactly you can expect to see in terms of gameplay, that you can get a glimpse at through the recently posted beta trailer. Have a gander:

From what I can tell New World seems to be enjoying a fairly positive reception so far. While I certainly hope that continues to be the case, it's also important to mention that the biggest hurdle an MMO needs to overcome is the 'infinite' endgame, something we likely won't see very much of throughout the closed beta. So while things are looking good for New World right now, I'd still highly recommend against getting too invested before we get a solid idea of everything the new MMO has to offer.

Whatever your thoughts on the matter may be, you can learn more about New World, as well as sign up for the closed beta, over at the official website. Good luck with the beta key!
