Shovel Knight artwork for the Treasure Trove collection

[Update #2]: Shovel Knight's dungeon-digging roguelite spin-off Shovel Knight Dig is set to arrive on September 23rd, 2022.

[Update]: Shovel Knight devs are working on a new 8-bit action-adventure - Mina the Hollower!

If there is any game that deserves Steam's "Labor of Love" award, it would be Shovel Knight. Despite releasing all the way back in 2014, the developers have simply refused to stop adding new and exciting content for it. 2015 brought in the Plague of Shadows expansion, Specter of Torment followed in 2017, and with the most recent release of King of Cards and the multiplayer-focused Shovel Knight Showdown, Shovel Knight is now officially complete!

Here's a brief trailer highlighting just what Shovel Knight is all about, as well as how unique each of the expansions truly is. Have a look:

While the price has increased since the early days, I would still highly recommend grabbing Shovel Knight if you have even a tiny bit of love for the action-platformer genre. The base game itself is a lovely homage to the 8-bit platformers of old, and every single expansion since then has raised the bar even further. And yes, this applies to the newest King of Cards expansion as well given that it's pretty darn awesome!
