La-Mulana 2 official artwork and logo

[Update]: La-Mulana 2's very first DLC has now added some of the most challenging puzzles in the whole series.

La-Mulana 2, much like its predecessor, is a Metroidvania-styled puzzle-exploration game that doesn't hold your hand in any way. You'll be expected to dismantle complex puzzles, beat down tricky bosses, solve riddles without a helpful NPC telling you what the 'catch' is, and sometimes just try to figure out where you're supposed to go next without much in terms of hints. It's a bit of a brutal experience, but if the original La-Mulana is anything to go on, it's also one that is deeply satisfying because of how good it feels to finally beat the game at its own... well, game!

Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you the recently posted launch trailer. It'll hopefully give you a pretty good idea of just what La-Mulana 2 is all about. Have a gander:

La-Mulana 2 is set to arrive later today so I obviously can't tell you whether it's better than the original, but I can at least tell you whether you're likely to enjoy it or not:

If you're someone that doesn't have a lot of patience and you're not a fan of playing with a pen & paper by your side, then I'm pretty sure you will lose your mind trying to solve La-Mulana 1 or 2 without any help. On the other hand, if you don't mind a game that sometimes makes you rage-quit because the puzzles are just that tricky, then I do believe you'll enjoy both La-Mulana games as they are a prime example of how to combine puzzles and exploration into something that's more than just the sum of both parts. Just make sure not to ruin the experience for yourself by playing alongside a wiki!

With that little diversion now out of the way, you should head on over to Steam to learn more about La-Mulana 2 and its predecessor. Have fun!
