[Update]: It took a while, but Firmament will be launching in the first quarter of 2023!

After many, many years of waiting the world finally saw Cyan bring out a brand new spiritual successor to Myst back in 2016 - the highly atmospheric and utterly bizarre Obduction. Thankfully, fans of puzzle-adventures will not have to wait as long for the next one as Cyan has just recently unveiled their newest steampunk adventure Firmament!

There are currently very few details available about Firmament, but on the positive side there is a fairly lengthy teaser trailer, so if you're interested in what exactly Cyan cooked up this time around you'll find the video right below. Have a look, it's quite an intriguing one:

Outside of there being four different realms for you to explore, the only other thing Cyan has announced so far is that Firmament will be "a new VR experience". Whether this means it's going to be entirely in VR or if there's going to be a 'standard' version as well, I simply don't know, but chances are high that you'll be able to play in whichever mode you like. After all, Cyan's previous game Obduction supports both, so it makes sense that they'll continue the trend.

Since I'm already talking about not knowing things, it is also worth mentioning that the launch platforms are currently a mystery. Obduction is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and Oculus Rift, so if I was a betting man I would put my chips on those platforms again, but until more information comes in I would highly suggest you treat all of this as pure speculation.

You can follow Firmament's progress, as well as check out the eventual developer previews, by heading over to the official website. And as a final note, allow me to send you off with a couple of lovely yet rather small images. Enjoy!
