[Update]: Cantata has now launched into Early Access alongside mostly positive player reviews.

If you're in the mood for a large-scale strategy game that you can really sink a lot of time into, the upcoming Cantata might be what you're looking for. It's essentially a mixture of a classic turn-based tactics game and something like Factorio, with the end goal being not only to outmaneuver and overwhelm your opponent, but also to ensure your entire production line and supply chain don't break apart in the process.

What this kind of gameplay looks like in action, that you can get a small sneak peek at through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander, it's quite an interesting one:

In terms of variety, Cantata will give you access to three different factions (machines, humans and aliens), each of which will have their own unique mechanics, playstyles, and special commanding officers to help further spice things up. And if you want to go even further than that, there will also be extensive modding support with the ability to not only reskin and edit unit behaviors, but also to create entirely new ones with their own sprites and attacks.

So if all of this sounds like something you'd love to mess around with, mark May 12th, 2022 on your calendar as that's when Cantata will be landing into Steam Early Access. That said, if you don't feel like waiting that long in order to give it a try, I'm happy to say that there is currently a free demo available!

[Update]: The demo has now disappeared, but hopefully it'll pop back up again closer to launch.

You can check it out, as well as learn more about Cantata in general, by hopping over to Steam. Have fun!
