[Update]: Cook, Serve, Forever has unfortunately been delayed, though thankfully only for a week!

To say that the Cook, Serve, Delicious! series is a strange one would be quite an understatement. While it all started with a humble cooking and restaurant management sim, somehow Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3 ended up being a road trip across war-torn America where you'd get frequently assaulted by rival cooking gangs!

After experimenting with these types ideas for quite a few years, developer Vertigo has now finally decided to give a proper story-based game a try. As such, the upcoming Cook Serve Forever is not only going to feature plenty of cooking action, but also a lengthy storyline that will offer dozens of hours of gameplay, a variety of fully voiced and realized characters to annoy, as well as a bunch of side quests to mess around with.

What all of this looks like in action, as well as what the story is even about, that you can get a bit of an idea of through the trailer below. Have a gander:

As you've probably seen in the trailer itself, Cook Serve Forever will be launching onto Steam Early Access on May 8th. The current plan is for Cook Serve Forever to stay there for about nine to ten months, during which Vertigo will be adding new recipes, quests, locations and even game modes like local co-op and a "challenging new Cooking School mode".

The initial version, however, will bring with it ten to twelve hours of gameplay, or roughly around 20-25% of the finished game. This includes the full tutorial, story and cutscenes, a dozens locations, and naturally, a bunch of recipes for you to muck up. It's also worth noting that the price won't be changing once Cook Serve Forever leaves Early Access, so if you prefer playing a fully finished game over an early beta, feel free to wait - you won't miss out on anything.

You can read more about Cook Serve Forever, as well as keep up with any developer updates, over at Steam. Enjoy, and I'll make sure to let you know once Cook Serve Forever actually opens up its doors.
