Warhammer: Chaosbane screenshot of a High Elf Mage using lightning spells

Warhammer: Chaosbane, much like Diablo 3 from which it draws a great deal of inspiration, is a fantasy hack & slash that's all about carving through hordes of demons, messing around with a variety of spells and abilities, and naturally, collecting more loot than you could possibly fit in even the largest of vaults. A relatively simple concept, but one that has been proven to work time and time again.

If you're wondering what all of this looks like in gameplay terms, allow me to share with you the recently posted in-game preview starring the High Elf Mage. Have a gander:

Just like the previous trailer, the gameplay shown here demonstrates a great deal of potential, but there is still a lot of work to be done before that potential is fully realized. The visuals are lovely, but there needs to be far more weight and impact added to each swing and spell, while the overall pace needs to be somewhat increased in order to make both you and your enemies feel significantly more powerful and threatening.

That said, Warhammer: Chaosbane still doesn't have an official release date, so I can only hope the developers will manage to get everything polished up before launch. After all, it really does have the potential to become something quite special, but it just needs a bit more sprucing up before it's truly there.
