Given the immense success of both Vermintide and Total War: Warhammer, it was only a matter of time before the Warhammer Fantasy universe started spreading to even more genres. After all, if you have an entire universe filled with colorful monsters that would love nothing more than to destroy the world, why not create a game that revolves around endlessly blazing through hordes upon hordes of said beasties!

This is where Warhammer: Chaosbane comes into play as the very first hack n' slash set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. Much like Diablo 3 from which it draws a great deal of inspiration, Warhammer: Chaosbane is all about choosing your favorite character and skill set, and then going on a murderous rampage throughout the Old World - a rampage that will only ever stop once your bags become overflowing with randomized loot.

Since an ARPG lives and dies by its combat system, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer for Warhammer: Chaosbane. It's still early in development so not everything is fully polished just yet, but it should still give you a pretty decent idea of what to expect. Have a look:

Personally, I would like to see a bit more weight and impact added to the combat. Hitting enemies needs to stagger them quite considerably, smashing through a horde of fanatics should send them flying in every direction, and smacking an enemy square in the face with a mace simply must produce a meatier, more impactful sound. These are all minor complaints, I'm aware, but they are also the sort of improvements the developers will need to make if they wish to compete with the already entrenched Path of Exile and Diablo 3.

How and whether things will actually change, that still remains to be seen, but so far I would say that Warhammer: Chaosbane is definitely worth keeping an eye on. If you feel the same, you can visit the official Facebook page to learn more, as well as follow the developers moving forward.
