Dead Cells official artwork and logo

Dead Cells already has pretty high replay value given that it's a rogue-like, but if you're looking to extend those hours even further, you might want to check out the most recent Pimp Your Run update. It has rebalanced the vast majority of items, removed enemy auto-scaling, placed time doors in-between levels, and perhaps most importantly of all, added a new Custom Game mode.

As you might imagine, the Custom Game mode gives you the ability to tweak your experience in a variety of ways. You can unlock all of the loot immediately and just bypass the progression system, mess around with the loot tables in order to create custom challenges, and naturally, pick and choose your starting items. It's a fairly simple concept, but also a pretty darn entertaining one.

Given the sheer amount of changes, the patch notes are absolutely gigantic, so if you're looking for a brief summary you should head on over to Steam. On the other hand, if you feel like diving into the full list of changes and seeing what exactly has been tweaked or replaced, you can do so by visiting the official website. Just make sure to grab a cup of coffee before you go because you're going to be stuck there for quite a while!

Oh, and if you're going to dive straight into Dead Cells without looking at the patch notes, it is important to mention that you'll likely have to re-learn some of your favorite playstyles. The balance changes really are extensive, so don't be surprised if you find yourself dying over and over again for a little while - after all, it's all part of the learning process!

Have fun, and just in case you missed it, I'll leave you with the original animated trailer:
