Darksburg official artwork and logo

After successfully getting Northgard through Steam Early Access, Shiro Games are now attempting to do the same with Darksburg. However, while Northgard is a strategy game through and through, Darksburg is a co-op focused hack & slash with both a classic PvE mode and a Left 4 Dead inspired PvP mode.

You can get a bit of an idea of what Darksburg looks like, as well as what the actual combat is about, through the recently posted launch trailer. Have a gander, it's a fairly short one:

I haven't played Darksburg myself, so take the following with a few grains of salt, but it would appear that the initial Early Access version is a bit rough. The combat has a good deal of potential and I can see it becoming quite interesting in the future, but right now there's just not enough abilities or customization to keep things interesting for a long period of time. The servers also seem to be struggling with the influx of new players, so there might even be a bit of lag depending on where you're playing from.

As such, my advice would be the same one I give for most other Early Access games - only grab this early version if you want to help the developers out. If you simply care about the gameplay, then you might want to wait a few months until things are a bit more polished. After all, there's no point to just burning yourself out on an unfinished version and then never giving the fully finished one a proper try.

Whatever your plan may be, you can learn more about Darksburg, as well as follow any future updates, over at Steam.
