Biomutant official artwork showing the main character

[Update]: Biomutant has now finally been unleashed, though it arrives alongside a fairly mixed reception.

It may have taken what feels like an eternity, but the post-apocalyptic kung-fu RPG Biomutant is now nearly ready for prime time. So as long as nothing goes awry, you can expect to see it glide over to PC and consoles on May 25, 2021.

The good news doesn't end there, however, as the developers have now also released a decently lengthy gameplay preview showing off some of the lovely locations you can visit and the strange contraptions you can use to do so. Have a gander:

Needless to say, Biomutant's world is looking absolutely incredible. While the raw visual fidelity may be lacking at certain parts, none of that really matters when there is so much charm and creativity poured into the world and its design. Because of this, I can't help but be reminded of the old PlayStation 1 and 2 era action-adventures with their unique characters and vibrant locations, which is definitely a good thing in my book!

As for the combat, you can check out what that looks like through one of the earlier trailers. There's sadly very little raw gameplay on display, but it should still clue you in quite nicely on what kind of combat style Biomutant is going for. Have a peek:

If you prefer the written word, however, you can learn more about Biomutant over at the official website. Enjoy!
