[Update]: Biomutant's Patch 1.5 has improved the loot, increased the level cap, and fixed a bunch of crashes.

After being teased for nearly five years at this point, the stylish and post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu RPG Biomutant has now finally arrived. It brings with it a colorful world to explore, an assortment of mutations that you can acquire in order to drastically change your appearance and abilities, and as is tradition, plenty of combat, crafting and conversations to keep you occupied along the way.

You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this looks like in action through two of the recent trailers. The first is the fairly standard launch trailer, while the second one is a developer-guided overview of Biomutant's world and themes. Have a gander:

I haven't Biomutant myself just yet so take the following with a few grains of salt, but from what I can tell it appears to be the quintessential overly-ambitious yet quite janky indie game. So if you're looking for a fully polished experience where every gameplay system comes together to form one cohesive whole, I'm afraid you won't find that here. On the other hand, if you're in the mood to explore a cutesy world and beat up hordes of baddies as a levitating Kung-fu rat, then Biomutant might just be up your alley.

That said, I'd advise waiting a little while before jumping in. This is partially so the developers have time to fix any of the major issues, and partly so you can grab it at a bit of a discount since I can't help but feel that the 60€ price tag is a bit too spicy.

Whatever your choice may be, you can learn more about Biomutant, as well as keep track of any updates, over at Steam. Have fun!
