Amnesia: Rebirth official artwork and logo

[Update #2]: Amnesia: Rebirth's lengthy preview offers plenty of great atmosphere and a glimpse at the monster.

[Update]: Frictional Games have released the full source code for the original two Amnesia games!

I sure hope you're in the mood for some good ol' fashioned psychological horror, because Amnesia: Rebirth has now finally received a release date! In other words, you can expect to see it arrive this October 20th for Steam, GOG, Epic Game Store and PlayStation 4.

As for what exactly it looks like in action, that you can find out through the freshly posted teaser trailer. Before you dive in, I will say that it features a brief glimpse at one of the monsters, so if you want to go in completely spoiler-free, you might want to avert your eyes for the time being. If not, here's the video:

"Set in the desolate landscape of the Algerian desert, the game will focus on new character Tasi Trianon as she sets out on a harrowing journey through devastation and despair, personal terror and pain, while exploring the limits of human resilience," reads the brief description. "You can’t let out a breath. The creature is only inches away. Its sole purpose – to feed off your terror. And so you crouch in the dark, trying to stop the fear rising, trying to silence what lies within you."

Personally, I am quite excited about Rebirth. The original Amnesia managed to really get into my head and have me on edge from the very beginning, long before any actual monsters even showed up, so I'm more than eager to see what Rebirth can do. That said, I do also hope they'll find some way to make the last third feel as tense as the first few hours, given that even the most terrifying of monsters tend to lose their edge when you've seen them a million times over.

Whatever the case may be, for now all we can do is sit and wait. So until more information arrives, you can learn a tiny bit more about Amnesia: Rebirth's upcoming launch over at Steam.
