John Romero has now announced SIGIL - a lengthy and free campaign mod for the original Doom

[Update]: Sigil will be coming this May 31st alongside 9 brand new Doom maps.
John Romero recently announced that he will be revealing his latest project on December 10th, the original Doom's 25th anniversary. Given that him and Adrian Carmack have already tried to Kickstart Blackroom, a Doom inspired FPS, I fully assumed that this big reveal would finally give us a taste of what they've been working on these past two years.
As you can probably guess from the title alone, I was quite off the mark. Instead of revealing Blackroom to the world, John Romero has instead announced SIGIL - a lengthy and free campaign mod for the original Doom. While the details are few and far between, I can tell you that SIGIL will contain nine singleplayer levels and nine deathmatch levels, and that the action will be picking off immediately after the fourth episode of Doom.
Path of Exile's latest Betrayal League has added a whole bunch of new content and balance changes

A few months have passed since Path of Exile's previous League, and as expected, Grinding Gear Games have now returned with yet another massive update. The highlight of this freshly launched Betrayal League is the addition of a brand new enemy faction - the Immortal Syndicate. In order to topple their order you will need to defeat their operatives, raid their safehouses, use the new manipulation mechanics to play their leaders against each other, and naturally, loot everything they might have that isn't nailed down!
The oldschool Forsaken Masters have also received numerous updates. There is now a lot less of them to manage, their crafting mechanics have been made more intuitive and less time consuming, and perhaps most importantly of all, individual crafting options are now unlocked by completing certain challenges rather than by grinding reputation. And if you're a fan of the previous Bestiary mechanics, you'll also be glad to hear that Einhar has returned once more, though this time he actually brought his own nets to the party!
Hades is a stylish rogue-like dungeon crawler from the developers behind Bastion and Transistor

[Update #2]: Following the success of the original, Supergiant Games are now working on a bigger and bolder sequel!
[Update]: After two years in Early Access, Hades has now been unleashed onto PC and Nintendo Switch!
The Epic Games Store has recently opened its doors, and what better way to start things off than by announcing and subsequently releasing Hades, a brand new game from the creators of Bastion, Transistor and Pyre. Given the studio's previous work, I'm sure it won't come as much of a surprise to hear that Hades is a remarkably stylish dungeon crawler with some rogue-like elements thrown into the mixture, as well as a focus on storytelling through some quality narration.
Since these types of games are better shown than talked about, allow me to share with you the recently posted launch trailer. Have a gander, it's quite an interesting one:
Episode 3 of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be arriving this January 15th

Much like the world it takes place in, Telltale's The Walking Dead series has seen its fair share of crushing disasters and miraculous recoveries. Back in September Telltale closed down their doors and filed for bankruptcy, which as you might imagine, quickly put a stop to the development of their newly released The Walking Dead: The Final Season.
Usually that would be the end of the story, but Skybound Games appeared out of nowhere and offered to hire the original developers in order to complete The Final Season and give both fans and Clementine the closure they deserve. And to wrap all of this up in a neat little bow, it's also worth mentioning that the founder of Skybound Games is none other than Robert Kirkman - the writer behind The Walking Dead comic itself!
John Romero's studio will be announcing their brand new FPS game later today

[Update]: Instead of a new game, John Romero has now announced SIGIL - a free mod for the original Doom that will add 9 new singleplayer and 9 new multiplayer maps!
To say that John Romero has had a storied history in game development would be quite an understatement. Alongside id Software he created some of the most iconic games of all time, games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake, while during his time in Ion Storm he also managed to create one of the most iconic disappointments of all time - Daikatana.
With that little bit of history now out of the way, you might be interested to hear that John Romero and Adrian Carmack will be announcing their brand new FPS game later today! What exactly this game will be about, nobody currently knows, but given that December 10th will mark the 25th anniversary of Doom, I think it's safe to say it's going to be an oldschool FPS of some sort.

After nearly 5 years in development, DayZ has just recently transitioned to Beta alongside a massive patch. Now, if you're expecting the same pattern to repeat for DayZ's journey to full release, I'm afraid you would be quite wrong as the developers have now announced that DayZ 1.0 will be officially arriving on December 13th - a mere month after the start of the Beta phase!
While the recently posted trailer might not offer much in terms of details, it should at least give you an idea of the sort of visual improvements DayZ has been undergoing in the past few months. Have a gander:

[Update #2]: The Winter Wonderland 2018 event is now live!
[Update]: Added the awesome-looking Krampus Junkrat to the list!
Overwatch's third annual Winter Wonderland event is set to arrive this December 11th for both PC and consoles. You can expect to see festive variants of numerous maps (including a newly redone Blizzard World), the Yeti Hunt and Mei Snowball game modes, all of the previous Winter Wonderland cosmetics and voice lines, and naturally, a whole bunch of new skins to collect!
If you're wondering what exactly these skins might look like, wonder no more as Blizzard has now released brief teasers for quite a few of them. The quality isn't exactly the greatest as Twitter videos are heavily compressed, but you should still be able to get a pretty darn good idea of what to expect. Have a gander, and if you desire a closer look just click on the image to go to Blizzard's announcement:
