Has-Been Heroes is a "game of strategy and action with a roguelike twist" starring a group of legendary champions that were once celebrated throughout the kingdom for their heroic deeds. Unfortunately even legends grow old, and our once mighty heroes slowly faded away into the mists of history, destined to be forgotten by the very kingdom they once saved. However, it appears that our heroes will not be able to enjoy their well deserved rest as the King has tasked them with one final quest, a quest so important it can only be entrusted to the most legendary of warriors - taking the twin princesses to school!
Since Has-Been Heroes doesn't appear to be your usual RPG, both in terms of storytelling and gameplay mechanics, perhaps it would be for the best if you just saw the trailer rather than listen to me babble. Have a look:
There isn't much information available just yet, but what I can tell you is that you'll be able to play as the three classes mentioned in the video, and also a variety of other characters you'll pick up along the way. Given that Has-Been Heroes has numerous roguelike elements build in, it probably won't come as a surprise to hear there will be hundreds of items and spells to collect, each one bringing a slightly different playstyle to the table. But perhaps most importantly, these items and spells can be combined together with devastating results... if you can figure out the proper combinations! And naturally, in true roguelike fashion each death is permanent, but apparently there will be ways to give your heroes a second chance. I just hope that doesn't mean raising them as a bunch of zombies!
I'm afraid that's it as far as concrete information goes, but if you would like to learn more I would recommend keeping a close eye on the Frozenbyte website. As for the release date, you can expect Has-Been Heroes at some point this March, though no date has been given just yet. And finally, here's a couple of images to send you off:
