Battle Chasers: Nightwar, despite sounding like one of the most generic games in all of existence, is a rather intriguing turn-based RPG inspired by oldschool console classics. As you might imagine given the genre, you'll spend a lot of your time wondering through dungeons filled with traps, puzzles and loot, building and advancing your very own adventuring party, and naturally, following what appears to be a rich and detailed story.

While the recently posted animated intro wont really tell you much about the gameplay, I would still recommend you give it a glance as it offers a pretty damn good look at the styles and themes Battle Chasers: Nightwar is going for. Have a look, its a rather visually interesting video:

I simply haven't had the time to play it myself, so while I can't give you a personal recommendation I can at least say that Battle Chasers: Nightwar currently has some very, very positive reviews. It would appear that its gameplay is exactly what the developers said they set out to achieve: a faithful homage to the old JRPG classics. So if you don't mind all of the negatives that come with such a concept, most notably the vast amounts of 'trash' enemies you'll have to slog through on the way to the boss, Battle Chasers: Nightwar might just be worth picking up.

Its currently available on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and even the Nintendo Switch. To learn more I would recommend heading over to the official website. And finally, allow me to send you off with a couple of colorful images:
