Yooka-Laylee official artwork

If you were hoping to break out Yooka-Laylee as an occasional party game, it appears you're in luck as the developers have just announced that there will be eight unique multiplayer arcade games to toy around with. You will be able to race with other players in Kartos Karting, fight for the flag in the Blag the Flag, demolish hordes of enemies in Gun-let Run, and so forth. Long story short, its going to be a bunch of minigames!

And for those of you wondering what all of this might look like, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. If you would like to avoid the intro and head straight into the action, skip to around 20 seconds into the video. Anyway, have a look:

Besides all of the minigames you'll be able to humiliate your friends in, there is also one more multiplayer game mode in Yooka-Laylee - campaign co-op. By connecting an additional controller your friend (or more likely younger brother) will be able to assume direct control of the Bee Team, and then help you out by grabbing a variety of collectibles and health boosts. The second player will also have the ability to dismantle some traps in order to make particularly tricky areas of the game slightly easier, but it is important to note that all of the decision making will reside in the hands of the first player. As such, don't consider this as a true co-op mode, but rather something you can use to potentially introduce loved ones into the world of gaming.

Yooka-Laylee will be arriving on April 11, and if you would like to learn more I would recommend you head over to the official website. On the other hand, if you're looking for some more straight-up gameplay footage you can find it by heading over here. Enjoy!
