Long War mod team is going to launch multiple mods alongside XCOM 2

My excitement for XCOM 2 knows no bounds at this point and its not due to their trailers or press releases but rather Firaxises willingness to involve their most dedicated community members with the game's development even before launch. To me that clearly shows confidence in the game and respect for the community that made XCOM truly great.

In a blog post that went up today Firaxis has announced that Long War Studios, the guys behind the excellent Long War mod for XCOM, are hard at work on multiple XCOM 2 mods that will release alongside the game. Here's the announcement message:

"We are happy to announce Long War Studios, the developers behind the Long War total-conversion mod for XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within, has partnered with Firaxis Games and 2K for XCOM 2.

The Long War Studios team, which is comprised of John Lumpkin, Rachel “Amineri” Norman and James “JCLewis” Karlson, is currently hard at work on multiple mods for XCOM 2. These mods are currently slated to be available at launch on February 5, 2016. We’ll have more information about the content of these mods soon."

If you're interested in more information on XCOM 2 or what exactly these mods will entail you can either visit Firaxis & the Long War mod team at PAX South or tune in to the live stream to check out what exactly the whole fuss is about.

Also worth mentioning is that the Long War mod team is creating their own game that from the initial announcement sounds like its going to be very similar to XCOM so I'd suggest you keep an eye on it as the team really is talented and I'm expecting their upcoming game to be pretty damn good.

As for XCOM 2 and its mods, they are slated to arrive on February 5th.
