World of Warcraft screenshot of corrupted gear in action

As a part of the recent Vision of N'Zoth update, Blizzard added a major new source of player power - corrupted items. Unfortunately, while the idea behind corrupted items is an excellent one, their actual implementation leaves a lot to be desired. Not only is there a massive power difference between the various corruption effects, but there is basically no way to target the ones you want, meaning you can rise or fall through the ranks purely on luck alone.

This will soon be a thing of the past, however, as Blizzard is looking to make it significantly easier to get the corruptions you want. So instead of having to rely on pure dumb luck, MOTHER will soon start selling specific corruption effects for large quantities of Echoes of Ny’alotha. The items she sells will change twice a week, mirroring the new Assault missions, and will cycle through all of the corruption effects and their various levels of potency.

In order to accommodate this, the Echoes of Ny’alotha currency will become far more abundant from all sources. For example, once the changes go live, Major Assaults will no longer award 125 Echoes of Ny’alotha, but rather 625. On a slightly different note, the cost to purchase Level 3 Essences will also increase from 500 to 2500 Echoes of Ny’alotha in order to compensate for these new changes.

The final thing worth mentioning is that the legendary cloak, Ashjra’kamas, will become easier to upgrade from ranks 1 to 15. Instead of having some of the ranks require multiple runs through Horrific Visions in order to collect enough quest items, the new changes will make it so you can gain a brand new rank in a single run. That said, you'll still need to push deeper and deeper into the instance in order to get the maximum rewards, so don't get too comfortable because of the new tweaks.

You can learn more about these changes, as well as keep an eye on when they'll go live, over at the official forums.
