World of Warcraft artwork for Alterac Valley

[Update]: Blackwing Lair, level 50 class quests, and a whole bunch of other content are coming to World of Warcraft: Classic this February 12th!

If you're sick and tired of the rampant ganking and city-camping that has been happening ever since the recent PvP update, you'll be glad to hear that this sort of nonsense is now finally behind us. The reason? Blizzard has just released the PvP battlegrounds!

Right now only Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch are active, though the two of them should be more than enough to provide you with plenty of eager targets and ways to gain those all-important honor points. In order to join the battlegrounds you'll need to be at least level 10, after which you'll be able to queue for them by either visiting Battlemasters in one of the capital cities, or by walking directly to the entrance of the battleground itself.

While the addition of battlegrounds is something I'm extremely happy with, there is one small problem - this is the Patch 1.12 version of Alterac Valley. So if you're like me and you were hoping for the original Alterac Valley where games could take days and where every single NPC buff mattered, I'm afraid this isn't it. A real shame, but I suppose not everybody was a fan of spending hours in a battleground only to achieve basically nothing by the end of it.

Whether you share my concerns or not, you can read a little bit more about this update over at the official website. Have fun, and I hope we'll meet on the same side! :)
