World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth artwork showing Jaina from the Warbringers animated short

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is set to arrive this August 14th, bringing with it a renewed focus on the war between the Horde and the Alliance. It's the same song and dance we've seen with just about every expansion so far, but it does seem that Battle for Azeroth will take things a lot further with the new War Mode and some actually relevant conquests.

In order to get everyone up to speed on the two characters that will be leading this conflict, Sylvanas Windrunner and Jaina Proudmoore, Blizzard has once started releasing some rather beautifully animated shorts. The very first one of these videos is simply titled Warbringers: Jaina, and I would highly recommend you give it a look, if for no other reason than the awesome music:

Funnily enough, this brief video has done more to flesh out Jaina's character than the past two expansions, what with them mostly focused around her yelling and acting like a complete madman in face of world-ending threats. I can only hope they will continue this trend and treat her character well throughout Battle for Azeroth because there are a lot of excellent stories to be derived from her inner conflict, stories that deserve a bit more development than 'I hate the Horde, let's go kill some of them'.

Once the Slyvanas video bubbles up to the surface I'll make sure to let you know, but until then you should go and check out the newly added "War of Thorns" quests. So far Blizzard has only released the first part of the quest chain so the whole thing ends fairly unceremoniously, but it's still brand new content, so I'd say it's well worth checking out. Enjoy!
