World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth artwork of the world tree in Teldrassil on fire

It seems that after Legion and all of its various world-destroying threats Blizzard has chosen to dial things down a few notches with World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Instead of banding together to destroy a being of immeasurable power that seeks to annihilate all life, the new expansion will primarily focus on the two factions having a big ol' slap fight over territory, honor, and whether or not one should cover all of their armor and buildings with copious amounts of spikes.

Besides the new storyline, the Battle for Azeroth will also come with the ability to group up with fellow players in order to explore uncharted islands, a new large-scale PvP 'mode' that lets you claim and build fortresses in strategic locations, the option to play as one of the various sub-factions such as Dark Iron Dwarves or Nightborn Elves, and naturally, the usual slue of new raids, zones, dungeons, and quests to mess around with. You can get a sneak peek at what all of this looks like in-game via the recently posted "Features Overview" trailer. Have a look:

As expected, there isn't a lot of concrete information available just yet. That said, if you would like to learn a tiny bit more about the Battle for Azeroth, or just check out some of the screenshots, you should head on over to the official website. Also, make sure to sign up for the Closed Beta by heading to the bottom of the page! The starting date is currently unknown, but supposedly the Closed Beta is coming "soon", which might mean anything from a week to a couple of months if we go by Blizzard time. Either way, you should sign up as soon as possible, just in case.

And finally, let me send you off with the rather bombastic cinematic trailer for the Battle for Azeroth. Its just as cheesy as all of the other Blizzard cinematics, but even so I have to recommend you give it a look purely because of how expertly crafted it is. Enjoy!
