If you're looking to make your Vermintide 2 heroes as fancy as possible, now would be the time to crack open all of your chests because the massive cosmetics update has just arrived. The rather plainly named Patch 1.1.0.1 brings with it more than 100 new cosmetics, a new quests and challenges system that rewards both chests and unique cosmetics, the Green dust fix, as well as the long-awaited mod support and Steam Workshop integration!

While the recently posted trailer does not showcase some of the most interesting cosmetics out there, it should still give you a bit of an idea of what to expect from this patch as a whole. Have a gander, it's a fairly short video:

The daily quest and achievement system should be pretty self-explanatory, but what I will mention is that you can receive some pretty darn fancy cosmetics for completing some of the more long-term achievements. Most notably, complete all of the levels on Legend difficulty with a certain character specialization and you will get two recolored versions of their armor set, and if you go the extra mile and complete 100 games with that character, you will also get a rather fancy new hat. When it comes to less long-term goals, however, the rewards are loot boxes of various types, so it's still worth finishing as many achievements as you can just for the extra chance to receive either cosmetic or Veteran (red) items.

As far as mods are concerned, not many are currently available given that the Steam Workshop has just gone live, but if you're looking to hone your skills you will find plenty of mods that help you do just that. The only catch is that none of these mods currently work on the live version of Vermintide 2, and as such you will have a much smaller pool of people to play with unless you bring friends with you. The developers are working on whitelisting some of the more interesting mods out there, however, so things will definitely become a lot more interesting in the (hopefully) near future.

And just as a final note, if you're even remotely interested in Vermintide 2, you can grab it for €20 during the current Steam sale. You'll find more details in my review, but long story short, it's a pretty darn good game and one that I've already spent more than 100 hours with, so I fully recommend you at least give it a look. Have fun!
