Vermintide 2's very first DLC was supposed to arrive in late April/early May, but due to some unfortunate bugs that took up most of Fatshark's time it ended up being delayed. The long wait is now finally over, however, as Shadows Over Bogenhafen has now arrived on PC, while the Xbox One version will be getting it fairly shortly.
In terms of content, Shadows Over Bogenhafen brings with it two of the biggest maps Vermintide has ever seen, as well as a variety of cosmetics to collect. If you're up for a little bit of a sneak peek, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. Have a gander:
Shadows Over Bogenhafen has also been accompanied by a massive patch that has tinkered with everything from balance to sound design. As such, you can expect to see a large increase in Legend-viable weapons, better sound cues for special enemies, more consistent patrol behavior and sound, a new batch of approved mods, a bit of a boss health rebalance, and the list goes on for a while. You can find all of the details over at the Steam forums.
As for the DLC itself, it's important to mention that Shadows Over Bogenhafen is currently the target of many complaints within the community. The reason for this is the simple fact that the new and DLC-exclusive loot boxes are only obtainable through achievements or extremely grindy weekly quests, while also giving out completely random items for completely random heroes. Not exactly ideal if you're like me and you have a couple of weapons you love above all others.
On the positive side, Fatshark has confirmed that they working on addressing the problem. So if you're thinking about buying the DLC primarily for the cosmetics, you might want to wait for a couple of days/weeks, just to be on the safe side.
