Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong vampire RPG artwork for one of the characters

While the Vampire: The Masquerade setting can easily lend itself to a myriad of unique and awesome games, many of them have so far ended up being an ambitious yet rather messy affair. Unsurprisingly, the newly released Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong seems to have followed the exact same formula as most of its predecessors.

Swansong's premise is remarkably fun, as you're essentially thrust into a vampire detective story where important choices have to be made quickly and frequently, with each one seemingly having major and far-reaching consequences. The problem is that both the gameplay and presentation are so janky that it's often going to be difficult to truly immerse yourself into the world and its characters.

So if you're planning to dive into Swansong, I'd highly recommend waiting at least a couple of weeks as this should give the developers enough time to sort out some of the major problems. You're likely still going to have to deal with a bunch of jank, but the experience should be a lot smoother so you can properly focus on Swansong's best bit - the story.

As for what exactly you can expect to see in that regard, as well as what the visuals are like, that you can find out through the launch trailer below. Have a gander:
