King's Bounty 2 official artwork showing off the dragonslayer

It has been quite a few years since Dark Side launched, but I'm happy to say that the King's Bounty series will soon be making a (hopefully) triumphant return with King's Bounty 2. You can expect to see it arrive on August 24, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch.

Unlike the previous spin-offs, King's Bounty 2 will serve as a direct sequel to the 1990 original. In gameplay terms, however, King's Bounty 2 will still follow the familiar formula, though obviously with a few new features and improvements to spice things up.

The battle arenas will no longer be flat planes but will have unique terrain you'll need to maneuver around, which on its own should already make King's Bounty 2 stand far above the rest of the series. The main characters will also have a wide variety of significant choices to make on both the battlefield and the campaign map, while new combat mechanics like Line of Sight and extra battle events should keep things nice and interesting all the way through.

As for what exactly all of this looks like in action, that you can find out through one of the developer updates discussing the battle system and the various things added in King's Bounty 2. It's a little bit outdated at this point, but it's still quite informative. Have a peek:

I'd love to tell you more, but I'm afraid details are currently few and far between. So once we get a proper gameplay preview I'll make sure to let you know.

Until then, you can learn a tiny bit more about King's Bounty 2 and its world over at the official website.
