As for whether Wasteland 2 is actually worth your time, I'd say that entirely depends on how much you like turn-based RPGs. Wasteland 2 is by no means a bad game, and I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough back when it first launched, but there is no denying that its visuals are dated and its gameplay a bit on the slow side. So if that sort of thing doesn't bother you and you're happy to overlook the occasional bit of clunkiness in order to get immersed into the story, then Wasteland 2 should be right up your alley.
