[Update #2]: Total War: Warhammer 3's first post-launch DLC will add four new Chaos factions.

[Update]: Creative Assembly has unveiled the truly massive Immortal Empires campaign map!

After a very brief round of teasers, Creative Assembly has now finally spilled the beans on Total War: Warhammer 3's Immortal Empires combined campaign map. Once the beta version arrives this August it'll bring with it 86 playable Legendary Lords, dedicated factions for a bunch of often-ignored characters like Grombrindal and Volkmar the Grim, new starting locations for 29 of the older Legendary Lords, as well as improved faction mechanics for some of them.

The good news doesn't end there, however, as Immortal Empires will also bring with it 'sea lanes' that allow you to move armies between distant lands and continents without spending fifty turns watching them shuffle around. There will also be new and dynamic end-game scenarios to provide some much-needed challenge once your faction is well established, which includes things like Greenskin invasions and undead uprisings.

Since most people never actually finish their campaigns due to the lengthy and unwieldy victory conditions, Immortal Empires will also be adding more meaningful objectives to make victory faster and sweeter to achieve. In order to encourage playing beyond that point, Immortal Empires will also be adding powerful rewards for completing your faction's victory conditions!

Just to help spice things up even further, Immortal Empires will support multiplayer campaigns with up to eight players. More importantly, only the host will need to own all three games in order for everyone to play! Other players will be limited to Legendary Lords and factions they own, for obvious reasons, but will otherwise be able to fully interact with the Immortal Empires campaign!

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg, so expect to see a slue of announcements and reveals as we slowly approach August. I'll make sure to highlight the most exciting ones so feel free to stick around, but for now I'll leave you with the developer update explaining why Immortal Empires will be launching as a beta and what it'll take to truly finish things.

Enjoy!
