The upcoming Mortal Empires combined campaign map is perhaps the most significant update Total War: Warhammer 2 will ever receive. It represents a merger between the campaign maps from Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2, with the end result being an absolutely gigantic world filled with a ton of different factions to befriend or conquer.

While the recently posted trailer won't offer you much in terms of details, it will give you a decent look at the new campaign map and the sort of battles you can expect to see. Have a gander, its not a very long video:

Since naval combat isn't exactly Total War: Warhammer 2's forte, the continents will be pushed much closer together, while some of the outlying islands will be entirely removed in order to make for a more interesting campaign. Similarly, races with ridiculous amounts of different factions (High Elves for example) will be getting a bit of pruning in order to improve load times and make the AI much more competitive. Interestingly enough, Total War: Warhammer 1's map will not be changed in any way, though there will be new factions added to it. For example, Queek Headtaker will be joining Skarsnik and Belegar as yet another contender for the coveted throne of Karak Eight Peaks.

If you're eager to learn more about the Mortal Empires campaign map, or Total War: Warhammer 2 in general, you should head over to Steam. The developers have done a rather good job outlining all of the major features, so you should get a pretty good idea of what Mortal Empires are all about. As for the release date, you can expect Mortal Empires and its accompanying balance update on October 26th. Personally, I can't wait to conquer the world as the Dawi!
