Total War: Troy in-game screenshot from the Ajax & Diomedes DLC

[Update]: Ajax & Diomedes have now arrived in order to beef up the Greek side of the conflict.

Back in September of 2020 Total War: Troy added the mighty Amazons as a playable faction with two unique lords. As you might imagine, this left things fairly lopsided as suddenly the Troyans ended up with six playable lords, while the Achaeans only had four.

In order to keep both sides of the conflict fairly equal in terms of power, the second DLC will soon be adding Ajax and Diomedes as unique lords aligned with the Achaean factions. They'll bring with them 18 new units to toy around with, Paragon units that essentially function as regiments of renown, a bunch of new faction mechanics to explore, as well as a new special event to help you conquer Troy.

As for what some of this looks like in action, that you can find out through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander, it's a fairly brief one:

Much like how it went with Total War: Warhammer 2 and Three Kingdoms, there will be a free side to this DLC as well. Besides the usual batch of balance changes and tweaks, you can also expect to see Hephaestus, the God of Blacksmiths and Volcanoes, appear as a part of the Divine Will system, along with the Divine Craftsman agent.

Both the DLC and the accompanying update will arrive onto the Epic Games Store on January 28, 2021 at 3pm GMT. As for the price tag, the DLC will set you back the usual $10 that Creative Assembly charges for these types of packs.
