Total War: Thrones of Britannia will be the very first of the new Total War Saga series. What this means is that instead of covering a large amount of territory and trying to capture an entire historical era, Thrones of Britannia will offer a much more detailed look at some of the most interesting events that happened in a relatively short time frame and much smaller location.

If you're wondering how exactly all of this translates into gameplay, allow me to share with you the newly posted developer preview for the Northymbre campaign. As you might expect from a Viking faction, there's rarely a dull and peaceful moment, so I'd definitely recommend giving it a look:

As for the release date, you might be interested to hear that it has been pushed back from April 19th to May 3rd in order to ensure there's enough time to polish up all of the content. The Mac and Linux versions will be following shortly afterwards, though no exact release date has been given for them just yet.
