[Update]: The Witcher 3's next gen update is coming to PC and consoles on December 14, 2022 alongside a free DLC based on the Netflix TV show.

As a part of the recent WitcherCon event, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they are still planning to release a next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt later this year. While the details are still few and far between, the enhanced version will bring with it things like support for ray tracing and faster load times on both PC and consoles.

CDPR has also taken the opportunity to reveal that they are working on a brand new piece of DLC inspired by Netflix's live-action adaptation. Once again we have basically no details, but if I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it's likely going to be a cosmetic pack to make The Witcher 3's characters and weapons look more like their TV show counterparts.

The one thing I can tell you for certain, however, is that both the Netflix themed DLC and the next-gen update will be entirely free to grab. So if you're itching to give The Witcher 3 another playthrough, it might be wise to wait until later this year so you can experience the enhanced version. As for how long you'll have to wait, nobody currently knows, but I'd wager the update will drop alongside The Witcher's season 2 premiere on December 17, 2021.

Until then, you can get your Witcher 3 fill by checking out the full WitcherCon event. Enjoy!
