Total War: Warhammer artwork showing the Greenskins

If you ever wanted to give the Warhammer or Warhammer 40k universe a closer look, or if you're like me and you're itching to pick up the rare few games you don't already own, you might want to head on over to Steam. There is currently a massive Skulls for the Skull Throne sale going on, and as you might imagine from the name alone, it's filled with all sorts of Warhammer games on deep discounts, both new and old.

The one catch is that the whole sale will only last for another ~24 hours, so if you're interested you might want to dive in as soon as possible. If you're not sure what to grab, however, allow me to give you a couple recommendations, each one from a different genre:

Total War: Warhammer - my review

Whether you're a fan of Total War games or a complete novice, I would highly recommend grabbing Total War: Warhammer at this low of a price tag. It is an absolutely brilliant strategy game with a large and dedicated modding community, so even if you don't buy the sequel you will still be able to get hundreds upon hundreds of hours of playtime out of it. And best of all, if you do end up buying the sequel, all of the current races and DLCs you own will transfer over to it as well.

Vermintide 2 - my review

It's basically Left 4 Dead but with rats instead of zombies and a greater focus on melee combat. Naturally, things aren't quite so simple and Vermintide 2 is most definitely more than a Left 4 Dead clone, but the comparison should at least give you a bit of an idea of what to expect. More importantly, Vermintide 2 has just recently been updated with modding support, 100 new cosmetics, daily quests as well as various challenges, so if there was ever a good time to jump in and hack through some rats, now would be that time!

Dawn of War 2 collection

While the visuals are somewhat dated by today's standards, Dawn of War 2 is still an excellent strategy game and one of my favorite Warhammer 40k games out there. So whether you're looking to play through the campaign, mess around with the co-op Last Stand mode, or just dive into multiplayer with your friends, I would highly recommend Dawn of War 2 and it's expansions.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, however, so do make sure to give the sale a look for yourself as well as it really does feature some great games. Have fun, and don't forget that the whole promotion will only last for another ~24 hours!
