Bubsy: Paws of Fire official artwork and logo

If there is one positive thing you can say about Bubsy, it's that he doesn't give up. Despite his platformer series being widely regarded as some of the very worst, he has still attempted to make a return in October of 2017 with Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back. While the newest sequel was by no means a terrible game and something that was physically painful to play through, it was still the very definition of mediocrity and not something I would exactly recommend you go and pick up.

With five games and arguably five strikes to his name, you would think that this would finally be the time for Bubsy to lay his wisecracks to rest, but instead it would appear that Accolade is willing to give him another chance with Bubsy: Paws on Fire. Here's what it's going to look like:

The details are still few and far between, but what I can tell you is that there will be four playable characters to choose from, each with their own unique playstyle and moves. Once you've picked your favorites you'll be able to dress them up in various cosmetics, and then set out to explore over 100 levels. That's pretty much it as far as currently available information goes, but if you would like to learn a few more tidbits you should head on over to the official website.

Personally, I couldn't care less about Bubsy and his intentionally obnoxious personality, but I genuinely do hope that Paws on Fire will manage to succeed where its predecessor has failed. There just aren't that many good platformers available these days, especially not new ones, so at this point I'm more than willing to endure even Bubsy if the game itself ends up being enjoyable.

Whether that's a bit too optimistic of me, I suppose we'll find out soon enough as Bubsy: Paws on Fire is set to arrive in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
