Despite it technically being the third installment of the SpellForce series, the upcoming SpellForce 3 is actually the 8th game when you consider all of the expansion packs. They might not have added much when it comes to new mechanics and gameplay elements, but they did greatly expand upon the story. As such, starting the series with SpellForce 3 might be slightly problematic given the amount of lore there is to plunge into.

In order to get everyone on the same page, and also show off some rather lovely spell effects, the SpellForce 3 developers have now released the official cinematic trailer. Our 'totally not Geralt of Rivia' narrator doesn't exactly do a good job of explaining the storyline, but it should still be enough to give you a decent idea of just what kind of world SpellForce 3 inhabits.
