The Resident Evil 2 remake will be making its way to both PC and consoles this January 25th, bringing with it a whole host of improvements and changes over the original. You can expect to see greatly enhanced visuals and audio, better voice acting, support for modern resolutions and 60 FPS, as well as some rather significant tweaks to the movement and combat controls.

If you're wondering what all of this looks like in gameplay terms, as well as whether the Resident Evil 2 remake is able to match up to its predecessor, I am glad to say that you can now easily find out by playing the free demo. Simply head on over to Steam (or your console's marketplace) before January 31st, and you'll be mess around with the "1-Shot Demo" after a brief download.

The one thing you really need to know before diving in is that you will only be able to play the "1-Shot Demo" for 30 minutes, whether you succeed in your mission or fail. If you die you will be able to freely restart, but the timer will always be ticking down. On the other hand, if you manage to complete the mission within the allotted time, you will be rewarded with a new and 'exclusive' trailer.

As such, I would highly advise just ignoring the timer and playing the game whichever way you like. Even if you end up failing because you spent too much time roaming around, you can simply look up the trailer on Youtube and that's that. So just have fun and use this as an opportunity to see whether the new Resident Evil 2 is up your alley or not.

Speaking of which, you can learn more about Resident Evil 2, as well as follow its progress moving forward, over at the official website. Have fun, and I'll leave you with the brief trailer for the demo:
