UnderRail screenshot of the new map and note system

UnderRail is an isometric, as oldschool as it gets, turn-based CRPG set in a post-apocalyptic future where the surface has been rendered inhospitable and where the remnants of humanity now dwell in caves and ancient metro tunnels. Just imagine a combination of Fallout and Metro and you'll be on the right track as far as the setting is concerned.

While UnderRail is definitely not a game for everyone, I must admit I had a great deal of fun playing it, at least until I reached the later portions of the game and started getting lost over and over again. Turns out navigating complex mazes of caves and tunnels is not exactly an easy task without a proper map to guide you. As such, I am very happy to say that the developers are now working on a global map to make navigating the massive world just a bit less confusing!

A couple of areas such as Core City will not be included, at least not initially, while some of the major 'dungeons' will forever remain without a map as they have been designed with 'blind' exploration in mind. There is currently no release date set, but you can expect to see the new map system arrive alongside the next update. To learn a bit more, or just check out some of the other screenshots, you should head over to the official website.

Maps aside, its also worth mentioning that UnderRail will 'soon' be getting the Expedition expansion! As with the map system, the exact release date hasn't been set just yet, but it does appear to be going along quite nicely. You can get a sneak peek at some of the new content via the relatively recent gameplay preview down below, though do be warned, there are some potential spoilers in there. Enjoy!
