When Blacklight: Retributed first released it had a rather sizable playerbase, and pretty much everyone agreed that the gunplay was extremely solid, the various abilities fun to mess around with, and the free-to-play system actually quite fair. What followed next was a series of rather unfortunate updates, which slowly but surely drained the playerbase and soured the public's opinion about Blacklight: Retribution.

And now, with the playerbase frequently dipping well below 100, I am sad to announce that Blacklight: Retribution will be shutting down its PC servers on March 11th. The PS4 version will still continue to operate as it doesn't use any dedicated servers, but all future updates and support will be getting canceled just the same.

If there is one positive in all of this, it would be the simple fact that all items on the PC Store are currently unlocked and free to mess around with. So if you're up for reliving Blacklight: Retribution's glory days, or just seeing what all of the fuss is about, this would be a pretty good time to give it a try as it's bound to get a spike in players for the next few weeks.

You can learn a little bit more about Blacklight: Retribution, as well as read the developer's farewell message, over at Steam.
