Space Hulk Deathwing gameplay trailer has been released

After waiting for God-Emperor knows how many years for the AAA industry to realize that a Warhammer 40k shooter would be the greatest thing in the world, I am happy to say that salvation seems to be coming, and its in the shape of Eternal Crusade which is currently in early alpha, as well as Space Hulk Deathwing which is slowly inching towards release.

On today's menu, however, we only have Space Hulk Deathwing as its first gameplay trailer has just been revealed, and thankfully, it looks bloody great! Have a look:

From what we know right now Space Hulk Deathwing is going to be playable as both a singleplayer game in which you take control of a Librarian (think less about books and more about zapping people with your mind-powers) and lead a squad of meat-shields fellow Space Marines on various missions, and as a co-op multiplayer game where you pretty much do exactly that, but the meat shields are less likely to help, and more likely to act as if they are chaos-possessed.

As far as weapons are concerned it seems that all of the Warhammer 40k basics have been cowered. Just from the trailer alone we've seen bolters, a massive plasma gun, plenty of melee weapons, and most importantly, a great-looking flamer! Hopefully this means that the meltagun will also make an appearance as that has slowly become my favorite weapon in Eternal Crusade, because let's face it, everything is better when you have the option of liquefying those that dare annoy you.

Space Hulk Deathwing is being developed by Streum On Studio, a small French studio most famous for their mechanically-mediocre, but otherwise extraordinary FPS/RPG hybrid E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy. If you have a penchant for games that are somewhat 'out there' I'd recommend giving E.Y.E a go, it should be fairly cheap these days. What I'm trying to say with all of this is that the Warhammer 40k license is in good hands, and odds are the developers will do it a great service.

Unfortunately, this is as far as the information on Space Hulk Deathwing goes, because outside of a few little tidbits released here and there the developers have been rather silent. The final thing I can tell you is that Space Hulk Deathwing will be releasing on PC and consoles sometime in 2016.
