Telltale's Batman and Catwoman

Telltale has come out today to announce that the first episode of their story-focused Batman series will release digitally in August for the PC, Mac, consoles, iOS and Android. A physical edition, containing a special Season Pass Disc, will be available for purchase on September 13 in North America and September 16 in Europe.

There currently isn't an official trailer available, or much information at all, but the good news is that the project leads from The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands will be plying their trade on the first season of Batman as well, so here's to hoping it ends up being just as good as those two.

What I can tell you, however, is that the Batman series will use a greatly upgraded version of Telltale's engine. How it'll perform, I don't know, but the few screenshots they've released so far seem to be emulating Batman's comic book aesthetic, an art style I have a great deal of love for, so in my eyes the Batman series is off to a good start.

As for the story, no details are currently known, but it has been confirmed that the extended 'Bat-family' will not be making an appearance and that the spotlight will be firmly held on the caped crusader himself. While I can understand their wish to keep the scope relatively small, its still a massive shame to have Batman roam around without Robin to help him out, especially since its such an easy way to bring in more personality to a character that is often seen as pointlessly brooding.

I'll make sure to update you once more information becomes available, especially in regards to the release date, but if you'd like to keep up to date on what Telltale's doing, their blog is the best place to start.
