Destiny 2 official artwork without logo

During the console beta announcement for Destiny 2 it was revealed that the PC version will be slightly delayed in order to ensure a quality port. The console betas have by now come and gone, and after a bit of a wait it would appear that Bungie is finally ready to showcase the PC version as they have just announced the Open Beta.

To be more specific, the Early Access phase will begin on August 28th, while everyone else will be able to join the Open Beta on August 29th. As with the consoles, the beta will only last for a couple of days, until August 31st. Its obviously not a lot of time, but it should be enough to give you a good idea on whether Destiny 2 is something you'd have fun playing.

Besides the beta announcement Bungie also revealed the PC system requirements, as well as a couple of their recommendations for what sort of machines you should be diving into the beta with. Have a look:

Recommended specs:

- Intel - Core i5-2400

- AMD - Ryzen R5 1600X

Bungie's suggestions for those of you looking to upgrade:

Bungie’s Event Machine:

I'm genuinely surprised at how reasonable all of these specs are. Most AAA games these days require an Intel Core i5 equivalent to achieve "barely running" status, so to see Destiny 2 scoot on by with an i3-3250 is quite impressive indeed. How exactly all of it will perform in-game still remains to be seen, but this does at least show they're taking the PC port very seriously, and that is always a good sign!
