Games Done Quick official artwork and logo

Summer Games Done Quick (as well as Awesome Games Done Quick) is a community organized event where speedrunners from all over the world gather to demolish the games you know and love, all in the name of charity. Much like the previous few years, all of the proceeds from Summer Games Done Quick 2018 will be going to Doctors Without Borders.

The marathon has only recently begun, so if you would like to join in and see what SGDQ has to offer, simply head on over to Twitch. If you don't have the time, however, worry not as all of the runs will be uploaded on Youtube in the near future. Chances are the early uploads will have some audio issues, as is tradition, but if you can wait for a couple of days everything should be sorted out.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Mario Maker race the most. There's just something special about having experienced runners thrown into completely sadistic (and often hilarious) levels, 'slowly' but surely working their way through all of the insane puzzles and platforming challenges, all the while being relentlessly teased by the commentators and the other team. Best of all, it's an incredibly simple run to understand, so even if you've never watched a speedrun before I'd recommend you give it a look.

And with that said, I'll leave you with 2016's Mario Maker run, just for good measure. Enjoy!
