[Update #2]: Steam's Base Builder Fest has arrived to show off everything from simulators to city-builders and even survival games.

[Update]: Steam Awards 2022 winners have now been revealed, though unfortunately they're somewhat uninspired.

If you're looking for an excuse to stay indoors and avoid the chilling cold, you'll be pleased to hear that Steam's massive winter sale has now arrived. The sale will stick around until 10am PST on January 5th, which should give you more than enough time to figure out what exactly you want to sink your teeth into.

For those of you completely confused about which games to even check out, allow me to give you a couple of recommendations for some of the cheaper yet still excellent games I've been playing over the course of this year. Without further ado, here's the brief list:

• The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition (-80%, ~10€)
Deep Rock Galactic (-67%, ~10€)
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 (-80%, ~6,60€)
Hollow Knight (-50%, ~7,50€)
Slay the Spire (-66%, ~7,10€)
Titanfall 2 (-84%, ~4,80€)
Resident Evil 2 Remake (-75%, ~10€)
Doom (-75%, ~5€)

As always, the above-mentioned games are just the tip of the iceberg. So if you have even a bit of free time, I'd highly recommend diving into the sale and looking through the deeply discounted games yourself. There's a ton of really good ones on offer for only a couple of bucks, so you'll almost certainly find something that interests you.

On a slightly unrelated note, it's also worth mentioning that the voting process for the Steam Awards 2022 has now started. Simply head on over to the Steam Awards website and cast your vote for a variety of interesting candidates across eleven categories. The voting will close on 9am PST on January 3rd, while the actual winners will be announced a mere hour later.

Once that happens I'll make sure to let you know as I'm quite curious myself. Until then, have fun with the new games and I hope you have a merry Christmas!
