[Update #2]: The third game in the series, Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden, is launching on September 13th, 2022.

[Update]: The Forsaken Maiden has now arrived, and unfortunately it seems like it has missed the mark compared to the original.

Much like its predecessor Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, the upcoming Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is a traditional swords and sorcery RPG where everything is done through the use of cards. You'll explore the world by moving around cards, you'll fight enemies by flinging cards at their face, and you'll make important decisions by choosing between different cards to respond with.

The idea behind the two games is to recreate a sort of Dungeons & Dragons like experience where your only view into the world and the characters comes from the dungeon master running the whole adventure. It's a pretty neat idea, and judging by the reviews for The Isle Dragon Roars, one that Square Enix has executed rather well.

As for what sort of characters you can expect to see in The Forsaken Maiden, that you can get a small sneak peek at through the recently posted trailer. Have a look:

If you're still not sure what to think about any of this, it's also worth mentioning that The Isle Dragon Roars has a free demo available on Steam. Since the two games are fairly similar, the demo should give you a pretty solid idea of what to expect from The Forsaken Maiden as well.

Speaking of which, Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden will be launching this February 17th onto PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Once it does, I'll make sure to let you know.

For now, however, have fun with The Isle Dragon Roars' demo!
