[Update]: Shadow Warrior 3 has now arrived for PC and consoles with a short but explosive campaign.

After going through a bit of a delay, Shadow Warrior 3 will be launching onto PC, PlayStation and Xbox this March 1, 2022. Once it arrives it'll bring with it an overabundance of intentionally terrible one-liners, a whole host of wacky enemies to slice and dice into ribbons, as well as plenty of explosions that are far more colorful than you might expect.

What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, however, that you can find out through the recently posted and rather lengthy gameplay preview. Have a gander, it even has a little surprise for Shadow Warrior 1 fans:

While I've seen a fair few complaints about the new voice actor, I must admit I'm not too fussed about it. The entirety of the Shadow Warrior series has had cheesy voice acting and occasionally groan-inducing combat dialogue, and Shadow Warrior 3 doesn't look like it's doing much to break the mold in that regard.

The one thing that does worry me, however, are the Doom inspired glory kills. The reason they worked so well in Doom is because they were incredibly fast and visceral so it never felt like they got in the way of the action. That does not appear to be the case in Shadow Warrior 3 as many of the animations are long and elaborate, which while neat to look at the first few times, does feel like something that will get very old very quickly.

Whether that is actually going to be the case, I suppose we'll see soon enough as Shadow Warrior 3 is nearly upon us. Once it arrives I'll make sure to let you know, but for now you can learn a little bit more about it over at the official website.
