[Update]: Shadow Arena has now been released into Steam Early Access.

While it's starting to slow down a bit, the Battle Royale craze is still well and truly alive. As such, it might not come as too much of a surprise to hear that Black Desert Online studio Pearl Abyss has now thrown their hat in the proverbial ring with Shadow Arena.

In Shadow Arena, 40 players are flung onto the battlefield and have to scramble across the map in search of monsters and loot, all the while avoiding or ambushing their fellow players that are attempting to do the same. Right now Shadow Arena features nine unique characters, each of which has their own fighting styles and abilities. However, despite their differences, they're all supposed to be on somewhat equal footing when it comes to duels.

Since words alone aren't exactly the best when it comes to explaining a combat-focused game, allow me to instead share with you one the recently posted character trailers. It should give you a pretty good idea of what Shadow Arena has to offer:

I'm unsure if Shadow Arena is still accepting new beta participants, but since it doesn't really hurt to try, make sure to visit the official website if any of this looks interesting to you. Do make sure to hurry, however, as the beta will only last until March 8th!

Have fun, and if you're looking to learn a little bit more before diving in, I'd recommend hopping over to Steam.
