Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope screenshot of rocket launcher destruction

Even though Serious Sam VR's Early Access period is slowly coming to an end the developers are still pushing out massive updates. As you might imagine from the title, in the most recent one they had added the long-awaited and unsurprisingly destructive skills and power-ups system.

What this means in gameplay terms is that you now have the ability to play around with orbital death-lasers, plasma cannons, swarms of flying quadcopters, minigun turrets, gigantic explosions, and apparently even armies of spiders. If you're wondering what all of this madness might look like, here's the recently posted and sadly rather short trailer:

All of the new skills and passive effects will first need to be unlocked through the skill tree, after which they will be available for purchase alongside weapons and ammo in the shop. In order to gain skill points you will need to complete planets, with higher difficulties obviously giving away more points in order to prepare you for things that are to come. Furthermore, this update has also added the ability to improve and upgrade weapons by finishing perfect runs. You can only gain one weapon upgrade per difficulty per planet, so make sure to choose wisely as the next opportunity might be quite a ways away!

If you would like to learn a little bit more, or just try Serious Sam VR yourself, you should head over to Steam or the official website. Have fun!
