Artwork for Sega's Make War Not Love event featuring four games

Make War Not Love is Sega's annual celebration that pits their various strategy games and studios against each other, with the community being the ones that decide the victor. Unlike the past few years, however, the popular vote is not going to be the deciding factor for which game gets to receive bonus content. Instead, there will be pre-determined rewards set for every single day, and in order to unlock them the community will need to hit a certain amount of play time each day.

This might sound like a bit of an anti-climax, but given how last year the less popular games got more votes due to what appears to be some shady business, I'd say it's probably a good thing Sega is going with the "give everyone new stuff" approach. And speaking of new stuff, the rewards for the fist day are going to be Viking: Battle for Asgard, Total War: Warhammer's The Grim and The Grave DLC, as well as a 75% coupon for Dawn of War 2: Retribution. Not a bad start by any stretch!

The whole event will run from 9am GTM on February 14th until 9am GMT on February 19th, with each day bringing with it a new challenge and new rewards. In order to participate you will need to head over to the official website and sign up through Steam, after which you will be given two free Sega Mega Drive games as a little bit of an early bonus.

If the community manages to reach the necessary amount of playtime for each day the rewards will be distributed to everyone within 24 hours, and this also includes the people that have not participated in the challenge whatsoever. That said, it would still be a good idea for you to participate because if we don't manage to hit the daily goal, we won't be getting anything at all.

The final thing worth mentioning is that Sega is also running a week-long sale on all of the participating games. So if you ever wanted to give Total War: Warhammer 1 & 2, Endless Space 2, Company of Heroes 2, and Dawn of War 3 a try, now would be a very good time to do so. Have fun and make sure to help out with all of the daily challenges!
