Red Dead Redemption 2 official artwork

After years of silence about their future projects Rockstar recently started tweeting out some rather cryptic, albeit quite exciting images. Much like the one you can see above, they were all red and obviously western themed, but at no point did Rockstart actually confirm what game they were from.

As you would expect from the Internet as a whole, wild theories and unconfirmed rumors quickly started to spread. The most interesting of which pointed towards a supposed leak from a couple of months ago as proof that this new game isn't Red Dead Redemption 2, but rather some sort of a prequel. The reality of the situation, however, is much simpler.

In a brand new tweet that came out just 30 minutes ago, Rockstar quite nonchalantly announced Red Dead Redemption 2. The full trailer, along with more details, will be released on October 20th, but until then here's pretty much everything there is to know about Red Dead Redemption 2:

"Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience."

Given the success of GTA Online it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Red Dead Redemption 2 will also feature a "brand new online multiplayer experience". Here's to hoping it won't be nearly as grindy as GTA Online, because getting to the good stuff in there is just not worth all the effort.

As for the release date, its set for the fall of 2017, so I'm afraid we're going to be in for a little bit of a wait here. But on the positive side, there is no mention of exclusivity anywhere in this announcement, so who knows, we might actually get a Red Dead Redemption game on the PC as well!
